FOLLOW ME AROUND THE DISCOVERY PARK

I have been pestering Tee for quite sometime to take me to the discovery park and finally on the labor day weekend he did! Discovery park is one of the largest parks in the city, it has some properties that are part of the military, you can see old houses and buildings which probably housed some men of the army/navy before. We just covered a part of this park on that day, the famous west-point park. The west point park is on the shores of the puget sound and has a lighthouse. There is a shuttle service(only on weekends i guess) from the visitor centre to the west-point park. You either have to take the loop trail(don't forget to pack your shoes for this one) to go to west-point or take this shuttle. There is a parking permit available for people with disabilities, senior citizens or family with kids, they can drive to the west-point with this permit.
We went there with friends on a saturday at 1600(did you say military?), and took the last shuttle from the visitor centre at 4.15pm(last shuttle from the west-point is at 4.30pm). We spent some time there by skipping stones and playing scrabble(girls vs boys). A couple on their wedding day were having their pictures taken, its a great little spot to take some memorable photos. We returned to our car at the visitor center through the loop trail, a nice long walk. It was a super cloudy day, with some drizzling as well.
Discovery park (west-point) is a perfect place to spend an evening, to hike the trails, to spot wildlife, to picnic, to take some pictures or to simply enjoy the view and the nature. We all had a fun time! Before you go, check out other local places like pike place market, and university district street fair. xo, Hems.
