BLACK & WHITE CHEVRON DRESS OR IS IT?

I celebrated my birthday last week, first one i was celebrating with my husband. It started with a cute little surprise party at midnight with few of our friends, and ended with a lovely dinner the next day, I had a wonderful time.

From where i grew up, every year one buys new clothes for their birthday. Its a de facto, one which i look forward to the most because i love me some new clothes(well, who doesn't?). I bought a black and white dress for my b'day this year. Its actually an indian outfit called anarkali bought from my hometown, Erode in India on my last visit. I fell in love with this dress the minute i laid my eyes on it. It's got the versatile chevron pattern, a lovely cluster of flower embroidery in the bottom, and that fact that its all black and white, both my favorite colors, just swept me off my feet, it was 'the one'. Anarkali usually comes with matching pants and dupatta(similar to stole/scarf).  But i gave them a miss to give this floor sweeping anarkali a gown/maxi look.
One thing you must live with when u are in Seattle is non stop showers. Posing in the rain for pictures and posting them shamelessly for the world to see is totally normal around here.

To complete the look, I went for a simple stack of pearls and it perfectly complemented my dress.
View from our table at the restaurant we went for dinner. Can you see the skyline of Seattle behind all those yachts? Beautiful, isn't it?

How did you celebrate your b'day? Did you buy a dress in just a heart beat because it was 'the one'? tell me your story or give a link to in the comments below, i would be happy to check it out. xo, Hems
